How to Use & Care
Non-Glazed Clay Pots (Natural Clay):
Handcrafted from 100% natural clay, non-glazed pots require seasoning before first use to strengthen the clay and improve durability. Before First Use 1. Wash & Soak Rinse the pot thoroughly with water and gently scrub away any dust. Soak the entire pot in cool water for 8–12 hours (overnight). This helps strengthen the clay and reduce the risk of cracking. Optional: For enhanced seasoning, soak the pot in rice water for 2–3 days, changing the water daily. 2. Dry & Oil Allow the pot to dry partially (do not let it dry completely). Apply a thin layer of cooking oil (coconut oil, ghee, or vegetable oil) inside and outside the pot. Wipe away excess oil, leaving only a light coating. 3. Heat the Pot Place the pot in a cold oven. Heat gradually to 150°C (300°F) and bake for 1–2 hours. Alternative Stove Method: Place the oiled pot on very low heat with a little water or grated coconut and allow it to simmer gently before turning off the heat. Let the pot cool completely before removing. 4. Final Rinse Rinse with warm water. Optional: boil fresh water with a pinch of turmeric to reduce the earthy smell, then discard the water. Dry thoroughly.
